Majority World Pastors, Preachers, Ministry Leaders, and Students
Great Truths aims to reach a global audience, appealing to the greatest possible number of leaders in the widest range of contexts and cultures.
We want to reach those who thirst for deeper knowledge of the Scriptures but may not have received formal training and have only limited access to ‘paid for’ material.
How Great Truths Will Be Used
We expect that many typical pastors, preachers, and ministry leaders in the majority world will want to use Great Truths regularly week-by-week:
- for information and understanding
- for sermon preparation
- as a reference point for teaching and training programmes
- for ongoing personal study
The content is primarily designed for a popular non-academic audience, and at one level its its objective is reasonably modest. Having said this, the goal is also fairly ambitious because over-simplification is not permitted where that would involve a distortion of Biblical teaching. With that in mind, we are offering material that is as straightforward as possible, without bypassing the Bible’s own richness, rigour, and depth.
Whilst the tone is warm and conversational, we aim to give more than a taste, more than a brief introduction. In treating each topic, we venture to give a description of all that is reckoned significant and indispensable, everything in Scripture that we would like – as it were – to convey to family and friends.
Whilst there are admittedly some who will not grasp our content, there are a great many who will.
Plain English Edition
Having said this, there undoubtedly is a broad spectrum of educational and literacy levels among evangelical leaders, particularly in the world’s emerging regions.
For this reason, we plan to produce a ‘Plain English’ edition of Great Truths as soon as possible. See plainenglish.co.uk
